Hales & Loddon A (190) lost to Great Yarmouth A (192-0) by 10 wickets in Norfolk League Division 4SE.
Skipper James Buckingham posted his maiden half-century but was unable to prevent Hales & Loddon A from suffering an emphatic 10-wicket defeat in their seasonal finale at home to Yarmouth.
Buckingham displayed a mixture of power and patience, hitting eight fours in his 60 as he topscored in a 190 total after his side was invited to bat. Prolific opener Charlie Duffield weighed in with a patient 45 while the experienced Andy Baker (22) and Sid Spooner (19) boosted the scoring in the later stages.
Paul Kitchen (nine overs 2 for 20) and Andy Petersen (10 overs 2 for 27) led the Yarmouth bowling effort with tight opening spells, while Boyce and Daniel Cable also claimed two wickets apiece.
Buckingham varied his options but all seven bowlers were unable to find a way past Yarmouth’s determined openers. Spinner Matthew Plummer send down 10 overs for a mere 11 runs and Richard Cook (6 overs for 17) also showed good economy but the vastly-experienced veteran Keith Nicholls and his partner Michael Boyce were not to be denied. Nicholls ended on 61 not out while Boyce managed to reach his century as victory was achieved in the 36th over.
