Hockwold 113-6 v Hales and Loddon. Match abandoned.
In-form Mark Stewart fired a four-wicket warning shot across the bows of visitors Hockwold before rain had the final say in the eagerly-awaited first meeting between the Norfolk Alliance Division Six leaders and the third-placed hosts.
In a game eventually reduced to 30 overs per side the unbeaten Brecklanders were put into bat on a softened surface by H&L skipper Josh Pitcher and proceeded at a brisk tempo of just under six an over before a deluge of Biblical proportions, which began in the 20th over, made further play impossible.
At that point H&L were in a decent position, thanks to some venomous seam bowling from Stewart, who claimed 4 for 26 from five overs. Some excellent work from Jack Cook had seen the athletic H&L glovesman pouch three catches.
Hockwold’s batting featured double-figure contributions from Anthony Ruddick (14), Joel Gilmore (19), Carl Smith (26no), Roy Bland (18) and Simon Groom (16).
